I had a great experience! The course is beautiful, but challenging. Hill workouts would have been very beneficial. The organization was very good for any race but especially good for a first-time event. Baton Rouge is a wonderful city with lots of family things to do. Free beer and wonderful Cajun cuisine and music at the finish fest!

Awesome course for the inaugural race this year – lots of fast and flat areas with enough hills to make it challenging. Beautiful views along the entire route. Plus the Southeast Louisiana weather is perfect for running in January! Did I mention, best post race party ever?

What a fantastic event all around! The expo, the venue, the course, the volunteers, the aid stations and post race event were all top notch. It’s hard to believe this was the inaugural event as it appeared to have years of experience under its belt. If you are looking for a relatively flat, fast course with TONS of beutiful scenery and a GREAT atmoshere, this one needs to be on your calendar. You get to see the best of downtown, LSU campus, the LSU lakes and some old towne subdivisions. The race provided pacers to help all of us achieve our goal times. The volunteer groups they had at the aid stations were fun and energetic the whole day. It made the miles roll by quickly. I can’t wait to see what this event has in store for 2013. It’s going to be terrific.

While I only ran the 5K this past year, it was awesome. They were very organized and everything ran very smoothly. I loved the encouraging atmosphere from people you didn’t even know. The only thing you had in common was that you were there to run! I have signed up to run the Half next year! Bring on 2013!!

This was my first half, and I have to say this race definitely spoiled me. It was well organized, a beautiful course and an all around amazing experience. I will definitely be participating again. From the scenery to the crowds to the well-stocked water stations everything was first class. My daughter participated in the kids marathon and wore her medal to school proudly the next week.

My husband and I ran the Louisiana Marathon HALF. It was our first half for the both of us and we feel it was a wonderful experience. Having run several races before and now many more since, I can say it was a well directed race. From the course, signage, hydration, volunteers, advertising, pre and post celebrations…… It was all top notch!
We are already registered to run it again in 2013 as our first FULL!!
