Disaster. Avoid it. This was my 16th marathon and my 5th Las Vegas race. This one was poorly planned and poorly executed. RnR way oversold the race and the result was a dangerous and frustrating experience for many of the participants. I ran the boring first half in 1:45 and then came upon the pack of half-marathoners on the strip that had been released all at once without any waves. It was impossible to keep pace with all of the dodging the halfers and walkers. The attempt at devoting a lane for the marathoners was pathetic. Small road cones with paper signs every feww hundred feet. The halfers were not told about this lane restriction. Then, many of the water stops were on that side of the road.
Over all this was an absolutely shameless money grab by RnR that showed no regard for the runners. At $150 per person they grossed over six million in registration fees and didn’t put much back for the runners. Shame on you Englehart and RnR.
