Cervelo leads the way
As Cervelo's Fletch Newland walked through the transition area at the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3, he was impressed by the level of bikes being ridden by the competitors who were getting ready to take on the flat, fast, Clearwater course.

Disney thought only a select few were crazy enough, like me, to enter the goofy challenge but were in for a big surprise.
Note: Ed. Note - History will record that the first true event to recognize and experiment such madness would be the National Capital Race Weekend in Ottawa.
In 2002, yours truly created the "Triple Crown" of endurance, which included running the 10km Saturday evening at 7pm, skating the in-line marathon at 6:50 am Sunday morning, and then completing the 1/2 marathon run soon thereafter. Peter Donato was rewarded with free race entries in the subsequent 2 years, thus establishing a three-peat performance between 2002,2003,2004.
History will also record that the 2003 race times of 34:13 in the 10km, 1:44 in the in-line marathon and 1:26:56 in the 1/2 marathon run may never again be equalled.

After dealing with the hardships that followed the aftermath of hurricane Wilma, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the A1A Marathon have moved to reschedule the inaugural run in order to alleviate some of the pressures that have beset the region. After consulting over 40 partners, city and state officials, and others involved with the A1A Marathon, Exclusive Sports Marketing has selected February 19th at 6:30 AM as the new starting time for this historic road race to take place.
“Initially we were extremely disheartened when we made the decision to postpone the race, but we feel that the running community will be able to really get behind this event in February, said Steve Tebon, Exclusive Sports Marketing’s President. “While February is a high point in the tourism season, we feel that there is still plenty of room to accommodate all the athletes coming down to participate in this world class event.”
For those athletes representing the 36 different states or seven different countries planning on participating in the A1A Marathon, Fort Lauderdale will be fully restored and show them the beauty local residents see on a daily basis. February 19th will fall on President’s Day Weekend and after looking at the weather patterns for Fort Lauderdale it seems ideal. The temperatures will be cool with an average of 67 degrees.
With much of Broward County still waiting to receive power at their homes and business, police officials have been working around the clock making sure conditions remain safe. The Staff of Exclusive Sports Marketing would like to take the time to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to the community. Without their help and support the time spent rebuilding after hurricane Wilma would not be possible. As such an important part of this rebuilding process, we recognize the police force as an equally important member of our marathon team and without them we would not be able to hold a safe event. We know that you share in our mindset when we send them our greatest thanks.
