ICR Signs Bubba Gump Spring Co. as 5K Sponsor

International City Racing has announced that Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. will become the Named Sponsor of the 2008 Long Beach International City Bank Marathon’s 5K Event. In the spirit of “Forrest Gump” the movie -- on which the restaurant theme is based -- the event will be titled the “Run Forrest Run 5K,” similar to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Run Forrest Run 5K events currently held in Monterey, San Francisco, Daytona Beach, Charleston and Lahaina, Maui. The Run Forrest Run 5K will take place on October 12, passing right by the Long Beach Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.


ed. note: I not only loved this movie, but I twice ran the Boston Marathon with "Forrest" on my shirt, which seemed like a funny idea at the time, but actualy turned out to be a disaster on both occasions. I hit the "wall" big time attempting to run under 2:45, and ended up walking and running over the course of the last few miles. Needless to say, the drunk Boston College students were not happy about this. "Hey Forrest, you should be running!" "C'mon Forrest, start running!"...(:
