An 84-year-old Gaspé man has bicycled more than 800 kilometres from his home in Maria, on the Bay of Chaleur, to Montreal to catch a plane to Beijing, where he will get back on his bike to make his way to the Olympics.

International Spain's Carlos Sastre won the 2008 Tour de France Sunday.

Sastre finished safely in the pack of the final stage, a 143-kilometer trek to the Champs-Elysees won by Belgian Gert Steegmans in three hours, 51 minutes and 38 seconds, to secure the crown.
